The is pretty unique in a sense that it does not earn rewards, like points or cash back. Instead, its most attractive features are the 18-month intro APR and low fees.
This card also does not charge an annual fee, charges no penalty APR for missed payments and waives some late fees. This will give you some leniency if you ever miss a payment.
0% APR 18-Month Intro Period
This card’s biggest perk is the 18-month introductory period with no APR. You can pay down your debt and make purchases without worrying about finance charges. The HSBC Gold’s 18 months no interest on purchases and balance transfers could be financially life-changing.
Of course, paying no interest saves you money. If you think about it, 18 months free of financial charges. However, you now have the ability to pay off your debts more quickly. This will put you in a stronger financial position overall.
You can transfer a balance from a high-APR card or you can make purchases directly on your new HSBC Gold card without paying a dime in finance charges for the first 18 months. Each penny you pay toward the balance will go toward reducing your overall debt. Plus, this card waives the late fee when you miss your first payment or if you miss a payment after 12 consecutive months of paying on time. Otherwise, a late fee applies. The card also won’t impose a penalty APR if you miss payments.

The HSBC Gold also provides fraud protection, extended warranties up to an additional year, and coverage on most purchases up to $1,000 against accidental damage or theft for 90 days after the purchase. Plus, price protection will refund the difference if you make a purchase and find it advertised for less within 60 days of your purchase.
In addition, you can see one of your FICO 8 Credit Scores for free with this card. This is based on your Equifax credit report. However, your score will only be reported on your monthly statement, either digitally or mailed. Many other cards will let you check your score online for free whenever you’d like. Nonetheless, your credit score will usually be updated once per month anyway.
Because it is a Mastercard, you’ll benefit from Mastercard Airport Concierge. With this perk, you’ll get a 15% discount on Airport Meet and Greet services. Airport concierges are available to escort you through the terminal, and may make your trip through security or immigration faster.
It also offers no foreign transaction fees. You can use the HSBC Gold card internationally without getting paying that 3 – 5% fee other cards have.
