Amazon Purchase Categories
These days, most people do nearly all their shopping and make purchases online if what they’re looking for is available because it’s more convenient. That said, I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that Amazon is one my go-to and favorite online store to shop at. Right now, Amazon is one of the largest and most visited retail site among consumers.
So, if you shop at Amazon.com often, I suggest you choose Amazon.com as your category to earn 5X reward points. You’ll get the best deals online, receive fast service (faster service if you have Amazon Prime), AND you’ll be able to rack up an abundance amount of points for all your purchases!

Charities Categories
You can usually use your regular credit card to donate to a variety of charities, but some issuers have created credit cards to support specific charitable organizations, like this one. It’s awesome to see that more credit card issuers are now starting to tie in charities to their reward systems. This allows card holders to donate while also getting rewarded points to a charity affiliated with that card. For this card specifically, Vantage lets you earn 5X the reward points for swiping your card for anything that is categorized as a charitable organization. This means more ways to give back while being able to earn more back also!

Department Store Categories
However, if you’re still a devoted department store shopper, this card allows you to earn the same amount of reward points for shopping at places like so. If you shop at a specific store often, applying for that particular’s store credit card might be a better option for you. But, if you aren’t a devoted regular for any specific place and still want to earn 5X the points for all your store purchases without having to worry about rotating categories and what not, then this card is a good option to go with!

Drugstore Purchases Categories
Did you know that the average American spends about $502 on drugstore purchases annually? That’s a hefty amount money that we spend on this category. Knowing that you can choose to earn 5X the points for this specific purchase could help you earn so many points and help you save in the long run! But keep in mind that the 5X times point’s category is capped at $1,500 in qualifying purchases per quarter.

Gas Purchases Categories
With all the great categories that the Vantage West Connect Rewards Visa Signature Card already has to offer, you will also get 3X the points for all your gas purchases. Even though you aren’t rewarded as high for this category and there is a cap for each quarter, this can be still worth while to you. This is beneficial for those who are commuters or may own vehicles with larger gas tanks to fill.

Restaurant Categories
For those of you who are foodies, you’ll be able to indulge in your meals knowing you can earn a relatively high cash back for all your dining experiences. I personally think that this would be one of the most easy categories to rack up points. Many people are dining out and trying out new food trends — whether it be local or in another state/country since our economy is currently doing well. You may also change your 5X point’s category quarterly, so if you do choose restaurants as your earning category, know you are not obligated to stick to it if you no longer want to earn rewards for this category.

Author’s Verdict
The Vantage West Connect Rewards Visa Signature Card is pretty straight forward with it’s rewards and allows you to earn in many common categories. If there was a sign-up bonus, this card would be even more appealing to consumers and potential cardholders.
Some small fine print details that were noticed were:
- Paper statements come with a $3 fee
- Points are worth 1¢ each when redeeming for a statement credit. Minimum redemption is $25 (2,500 points)
There are also restrictions for all categories in which you earn points in, like having a cap like I have stated earlier on in this post, so this may problematic for those who are used to or prefer unlimited earnings. But overall, this is a pretty decent card to have on hand for anyone who would like a credit card that allows you to receive high reward points and does not require an annual fee of any sort.

Great deal on a card, but it looks like they only give this card out to those who live near their credit union. If you aren’t in Arizona, you’re probably out of luck.
There are some unique categories here, and this complements the rotating category cards well. I’ve never seen a card offer 5% on utilities (wondering if that includes internet?), And the only other one I’ve seen with charitable donations at 5% is the us bank cash+ but it’s no longer a category choice for that card. Amazon is nice too although apparently the bookstore category can work on that depending on the card. Wholesale clubs is also a nice one if you’re already a Sam’s/Costco member, I can’t recall seeing 5% back on that anywhere. Good option if you frequent them more than grocery stores.
Most of the other categories, as i hinted earlier, aren’t quite so unique because they come up on the rotating category cards, but that’s exactly why this card complements them so well: you can use it to fill in a gap with the rotating category cards.
Hell, since there are multiple unique or fairly unique categories, this card could easily be worth getting 2 of for 2 5% categories, and with 3x on gas and gas being a regular category on the rotating 5% cards, this may actually make more sense than the fort Knox gas card if you already have rotating category 5% cards, since you’re already getting 3% on gas for the times it’s not on the rotating categories if you get the connect card, plus an entirely new 5% category
